Dark Moss arborists are specialized in urban tree assessments. We offer several different consultations to aid in project planning and development.
Common Consultations
Tree Risk Assessment
- A Level 2 Tree Risk Assessment per Industry Standards
- Conducted by an ISA Tree Risk Assessment qualified Arborist
- A letter report will be provided
- Covers the entire State of Florida
- Suitable for anyone concerned with Tree Risk
- Usually sufficient documentation for a tree removal application, if the review criteria is met.
- 50% due at contract execution, 50% due prior to issuance
Project Arborist Preliminary Consultation
- An initial site visit to discuss the project, understand the goals, provide a feasibility opinion, and outline a permitting roadmap
- Conducted by an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist & ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist
- Only a verbal report, no written report will be provided
- Limited to Hillsborough County, Florida
- Typically for Developers, Builders, and Designers
- Not typically necessary or appropriate for homeowners concerned about tree risk
- 100% due at scheduling, fully refundable if canceled
Development Tree Inventory
- A Tree Inventory Plan prepared in accordance with local regulations
- Conducted by an ISA Tree Risk Assessment qualified Arborist
- Includes all mitigation calculations and tree tables required for permitting.
- Sometimes referred to "arborist verification of tree survey"
- Permit-ready signed and sealed PDF will be provided.
- Covers the entire State of Florida
- Potentially required for permitting depending on the jurisdiction
- 50% due at contract execution, 50% due prior to issuance

Grand Tree / Grand Oak Determination
An arborist will review a tree for size, health, and character relative to local regulations and determine whether the tree requires increased protection or is subject to additional mitigation.
Starts at $350 per tree assessed
Pruning Prescription Report
An arborist will prepare a pruning prescription based on the client-provided objectives, noting whether the recommended actions meet industry standards and local regulations.
Dark Moss only consults and does not provide tree care services, such as pruning.

Air Excavation Report
Dark Moss only consults and does not provide tree care services, such as air excavation.
Starts at $800 per tree assessed
Tree Appraisal
An arborist will review a tree using industry standard tree appraisal techniques and provide an appraised value.
Tree Protection Plan
An arborist will provide extents and specifications of required tree protection and special design techniques.
Suitable for pre-design and design development phases.
